You can ask your current psychiatrist.

Ask whether they assess autism in adult women, including people who mask or camouflage. If they do not, request a referral to a psychiatrist or clinical psychologist with that experience. A professional title alone does not establish adult-autism expertise.

A screening questionnaire such as the RAADS-R cannot establish a diagnosis or tell you the probability that you are autistic. A comprehensive evaluation considers childhood history, current experiences, sensory needs, everyday functioning, and other or coexisting explanations such as anxiety and ADHD. There is no single blood test or online score that settles it.

Five questions before paying

1. Adult women: Do you routinely diagnose adult women, including high-masking or late-identified presentations?
2. The assessment: Will this be a formal diagnostic evaluation, a screening consultation, therapy, or an identity-exploration service?
3. The process: How do you consider developmental history, masking, anxiety, ADHD and other possible explanations? What can we do if a childhood informant is unavailable?
4. Remote care: Can you assess someone physically located in the Philippines? Which parts require an in-person visit?
5. The full cost: What is the total price, number of appointments, waiting time and report turnaround? Is the report suitable for its intended use?

If an autistic clinician is important to you, ask the practice to match you with someone who has voluntarily disclosed that experience. None of the local profiles reviewed here establishes that the clinician is autistic.
